Los decimales en inglés
Los decimales en inglés utilizan un punto y no una coma para separar el número entero del resto. Para expresar oralmente un decimal en inglés, leemos la cifra entera si la hay, luego decimos "punto" y leemos cada cifra decimal individualmente. Por lo general, no decimos el cero antes del punto. Si los decimales se refieren a dinero, se expresan de otro modo (ver más abajo).

Las fracciones en inglés
En inglés, expresamos oralmente una fracción empleando el número cardinal para el numerador y el ordinal para el denominador. Si el numerador es mayor que 1, el denominador va en plural. La única excepción es el 2, que se lee "half" cuando el numerador es 1 y "halves" cuando es mayor de 1.

Expresar oralmente porcentajes en inglés es fácil. Decimos la cifra y luego añadimos la palabra "percent".

Hablar de dinero en inglés
Para expresar oralmente una suma de dinero, primero decimos la cifra entera, seguida por el nombre de la divisa. Si hay decimales, los leemos después del punto como número entero y, si la moneda a la que se refieren tiene nombre, lo añadimos (por ejemplo, en dólares diríamos "cents" después del decimal).

Los años en inglés
Es relativamente complejo decir bien los años en inglés. De forma general, si el año tiene 4 cifras, leemos las 2 primeras como un número entero y las dos siguientes como otro. Existen algunas excepciones. Los 100 primeros años de un milenio pueden leerse como números de 4 cifras o de 2 en 2 cifras. Los milenios como tales siempre se leen como números de 4 cifras. Los nuevos siglos se expresan como centenas enteras. No empleamos la palabra "thousand", al menos para las cifras pertenecientes a los últimos 1000 años.
En cuanto a los años que tienen tres cifras, podemos leerlos como un número de tres cifras o cómo un número de una cifra seguido de un número de 2 cifras. Los años de una o dos cifras se expresan como números enteros.
Podemos decir "the year" antes de un año particular para dar más claridad al sentido de la frase, algo corriente con años de dos y tres cifras. Los años anteriores al año 0 van seguidos de BC, pronunciado como dos letras del abecedario.
Curiosamente, estas reglas de lectura también se aplican para decir números de calles en los países anglófonos. En Estados Unidos, las direcciones tienen a menudo números superiores a 1000.

Decir el 0 en inglés
Hay varias maneras de expresar oralmente el número 0 en inglés, en función del contexto. Lamentablemente para el estudiante de inglés, este uso varía de un país anglófono a otro. Las reglas aquí descritas se aplican en los Estados Unidos.
