‘Wicked’ Pay-Disparity Rumor Debunked: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Were Paid the Same
“Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder,” said a Universal spokesperson.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were paid the same salary for their work on Wicked.
“Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder. The women received equal pay for their work on Wicked,” a Universal spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. Multiple sources familiar with the situation also told THR that the actresses were paid the same for their work on the movie musical from director Jon M. Chu.
Unsubstantiated rumors about Erivo and Grande’s salary surfaced this week on TikTok and Reddit, with social media users claiming Grande made $15 million for the film while Erivo earned $1 million. Multiple news outlets picked up the social media commentary, only adding to the firestorm.
Gucci’s love affair with London continues with a Tate Modern exhibition and latest book release
You won’t want to miss these
Resuming its presence in the English capital, the Italian fashion house continues its love affair with London with a new book release as part of its series called “Gucci Prospettive” and its great return to London’s Tate Modern Museum following its Cruise 2025 show back in May. Honouring the brand’s long history with London, Sabato de Sarno has marked the city’s importance for his journey and the brand’s heritage.
“I owe a lot to this city, it has welcomed and listened to me. The same is true for Gucci, whose founder was inspired by his experience there. The House’s return is driven by a desire to be immersed in its distinctive essence, its creative driving force with its limitless capability to put together contrasts, make them converse, and find ways to coexist,” De Sarno marked on the day of the brand’s Cruise 2025 show. “Today, we are here to celebrate that spirit. Tate Modern is the perfect cross-section to narrate the city’s essence, with its great Turbine Hall that welcomes and gathers everyone, and with the Tanks, generators of ideas.”
Concerned the cold weather is affecting your skin? This iconic cream is always my solution (and it’s on sale)
It’s a beauty editor must
We can all agree that lately the weather has been a little unstable; one minute we’re enjoying the throes of Autumn and the next we’re plunged into deep winter with storms, snow and frost aplenty.
While our wardrobes are having to seriously adjust (hardwearing leather boots and scarves at the ready), our skincare routines may also need to. During the winter, we can feel the effects of the cold air, central heating and the like, which can often lead to dryness and flaking, particularly in those sensitive areas.

Missing You, the latest addictive TV series from the creator of Fool Me Once, has dropped a trailer
Mark your calendars.
Netflix and the creators of hit show Fool Me Once are bringing us a new must-watch series, Missing You. And they’ve just dropped a stunner of a trailer.
The latest instalment from bestselling mystery writer Harlan Coben will explore the mysteries around a murder and a fiancé that disappears – and reappears years later on a dating app.
It will star Slow Horses actor Rosalind Eleazar as protagonist and Missing Persons detective Kat, helming a pretty impressive cast from Sir Lenny Henry and Top Boy’s Ashley Walters to Busted star Matt Willis.
With I’m Still Here, Brazilian Icon Fernanda Torres Goes Global
The Cannes-winning actor is stoking Oscar buzz for her revelatory performance in Walter Salles’s harrowing biopic.
I’m Still Here leans toward heavy drama. It’s based on the memoir of the same name (Ainda Estou Aqui in Portuguese) by Eunice and Rubens Paiva’s son, Marcelo Rubens Paiva, but rooted in Salles’s own memories of visiting the family home when he was a teenager. The director hadn’t made a Brazilian feature in 16 years, instead helming a Francis Ford Coppola–produced On the Road adaptation as well as a documentary on filmmaker Jia Zhangke. So it’s no coincidence that I’m Still Here opens like an intimate series of home videos, personal and familial and gorgeously local. When Rubens disappears, a terrifying uncertainty settles in.

Princess Kate Is Unlikely to Wear a Tiara This Year, Despite Returning to Royal Duties
It could be quite some time before the Princess of Wales raids the Royal Family’s tiara collection again.
Royal fans have been delighted to witness Princess Kate returning to her official duties in recent months. In September, the Princess of Wales announced she’d completed preventative chemotherapy treatment following her cancer diagnosis. However, Kate Middleton is unlikely to wear a tiara this year, which is seriously disappointing news for royal aficionados.
Royal experts previously predicted that Princess Kate would wear a tiara at a state banquet in December. King Charles and Queen Camilla will host the state visit, which is for the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani. However, just this week, the Palace confirmed that Princess Kate would skip the evening banquet, instead greeting the royal guests in the daytime.
The 60 Best Pop Groups From the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s You May Have Forgotten About
And, no, we’re not counting *NSYNC.
Nowadays the charts may be dominated by solo artists, from the “pop girlies” to rap and country superstars, but for a long time, pop groups reigned supreme on the radio. K-pop idols have filled that void, as did the U.K.’s One Direction for a period in the 2010s, but at least stateside, girl groups and boy bands haven’t nearly been as popular in recent years as they were in the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s.
The gaggles of gorgeous, young entertainers had incredible musical and dancing abilities—bonus points for coordinating outfits. With a personality for each member (there was always a Bad Girl, like Aubrey O’Day, or a Pretty Boy, like Justin Timberlake, to speak of), some had a good long run at the top of the charts, while others boasted just one absolute bop of a jam before fading into obscurity as the best pop group you may have forgotten about.
The 42 Best Movies Directed by Women of All Time
Look no further than this list to see that the future of film is female.
These days, it’s easy to list several respected, well-known female directors—consider Greta Gerwig, Olivia Wilde, and Ava DuVernay, to name a few. But it wasn’t so long ago that Hollywood was, by and large, a boys’ club. While we’ve still got a long way to go—Chloé Zhao and Jane Campion’s wins for Best Director in 2021 and 2022 made them the second and third women to receive the honor ever—we’ve certainly taken big steps toward more equitable film sets. Now, we’re looking back at some of those epic strides by paying homage to the best movies directed by women of all time.
A few will come as no surprise: We’d be remiss not to mention Yentl, for instance, for which Barbra Streisand became the first woman to win a directing Golden Globe in 1984. (Zhao became the second in 2021 for Nomadland.) Other titles, like the feminist horror movie Jennifer’s Body, struck a chord deep within viewers, sparking joy, fear, sadness, rage, hope, or any combination of the above. So pour yourself a glass of wine and settle in: These are the 41 best female-directed films.
It Pays to Be a Regular at a Restaurant — Especially at the Holidays
One of the great pleasures of adulthood is that you can have Thanksgiving however and wherever you want to.
The first time I had Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant was at the tail end of the 20th century. My parents had made the trip from Kentucky to Baltimore, and what’s more, they’d offered to pay for my train ticket and dinner at what seemed like an impossibly fancy hotel restaurant buffet, where I loaded my plate with dressing, stewed green beans, rolls, and sweets.
I stared wild-eyed at the dessert towers, and to extract myself from the thought of how messy my pleather purse might get if I filled it with napkin-wrapped slices of sweet potato and pecan pie, I forced my eyes to other tables. Most were packed with families — some booming, boisterous, and at ease in their multigenerational bubble, others palpably about to burst with quiet tension, the clink of utensils against china standing in for conversation.
How to Fix (and Prevent) Lumpy Gravy, According to a Chef
It’ll all be gravy with these expert tips.
Good gravy is the icing on the cake of your holiday feast. Made with pan drippings from your turkey (or other protein) and thickened with a starch like flour or cornstarch, this make-ahead sauce evokes strong memories for many cooks.
“I still make turkey gravy the same way my grandma and my mom did,” says Nicole Pederson-Bates, the director of culinary operations at Food Gallery Catering in Minneapolis, “starting with the stock made from turkey necks and gizzards and livers, and always onion and bay leaf. As the turkey is in the oven that beautiful stock sits on the stove and just simmers away.”
How To Properly Batch Cocktails for Holiday Entertaining
The 5 steps to preparing cocktails for a crowd, according to bar pros.
Entertaining during the holidays is a tradition that’s notoriously fraught with stress. What you serve as drinks doesn’t have to be the cause of it. There’s no reason to get stuck shaking, pouring, measuring, mixing, and serving on repeat.
There’s a party hack, however, that will keep both guests and hosts happy. Batched cocktails. It’s simple: size up your cocktail recipe, make a large quantity in advance, then chill and pour liberally when needed. Craving a Martini? A pitcher-full can be at the ready in the freezer. Want to cap dinner with a round of Old Fashioneds? A bottle can be chilling in the fridge.
4 Must-Try New England Bread Traditions, From Parker House Rolls to Boston Brown Bread
Follow famous breads that originate in New England from Boston brown bread to New Hampshire’s Shaker squash rolls.
New England has a host of unique bread styles, some whose lineage can be traced back to the influence of Native people and ingredients on European colonizers. Many artisans in the region work not only with historical recipes but also heritage ingredients, using high-quality local flour from companies like Maine Grains, Vermont’s King Arthur Baking Company, and Ground Up Grain in Massachusetts. Here’s a trail of breadcrumbs to some of the best restaurants and bakeries throughout New England where you can taste a few styles of bread with compelling backgrounds.
Where to Try Indigenous Foods in Colorado, From Mesquite Flour to Prickly Pear Popcorn
This Native American kitchen and indigenous grocery is putting food sovereignty back on the menu.
Native Americans thrived on a diversity of foods, including seeds, nuts, corn, beans, chile, squash, fruits, greens, and — in the Andes — more than 1,000 species of potatoes, long before Europeans arrived in the Americas and massively disrupted the ecosystem. Indigenous people had traditions of hunting, gathering, and farming that colonists severed and oppressed for hundreds of years. Ultimately, United States government rations of flour, lard, and sugar destroyed cultural foodways while contributing to high rates of obesity and diabetes among Native American communities.
Lindsay Lohan’s Style Evolution Proves She’s a Fashion Icon
She wore cargo pants, so we all wore cargo pants.
For a generation of fashion-obsessed pop culture lovers who came of age in the aughts, New York-born actress Lindsay Lohan was one of the most-watched style stars of her day. Thankfully, the “Lohanaissance” of recent years has been just as epic to witness.
The globally recognized protagonist of movies so beloved we can still quote them in our sleep—think: The Parent Trap, Mean Girls, and Freaky Friday—found fame as a tot before becoming one of the most well-known teenagers in the industry. And over the decades, her outfits became as relentlessly documented as her personal life. A staple at fashion weeks around the world, a model and muse for brands throughout Y2K, and even the one-time creative director of Emanuel Ungaro, her influence is well documented. At one point, a paparazzi shot of her ankle monitor post-rehab in 2007 was said to have inspired Karl Lagerfeld to design mini Chanel bags to be worn around the leg. (Does it get more iconic than that?)

Masterminded by Eliane Astor-De Merode, herself the future Lady Astor of Hever, and her brother Simon de Merode, Historalia Productions is bringing this all-singing all-dancing story of Tudor trysts and transubstantiation to the 13th century jewel-box of a castle. The musical delight will be making its world premier on 2 August 2025.
‘A Lord wearing purple? They’d want your head!’ How Wolf Hall‘s costume designer dressed King Henry’s power-hungry court for The Mirror and the Light
Joanna Eatwell tells Tatler how she crafted the complex world of Wolf Hall, from deadly doublets to Tudor fetish gear
In the world of Wolf Hall, what you wear is a matter of life and death. Take the opening scene of The Mirror and the Light, the BBC’s highly anticipated adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s final novel. Claire Foy’s Anne Boleyn, sacrificed on the altar of King Henry VIII’s sexual whims, kneels shivering before her executioner. Her gable hood is slowly removed from her head and replaced with plain white fabric, a symbolic stripping away of the unimaginable power she once tentatively held. As the sword swings and her head tumbles to the floor, King Henry (Damian Lewis) is playing dress up, his servants wrapping him in furs and cloth-of-gold. His Majesty has literally never loomed larger, insulated from such trivial things as executions and excommunications by layers and layers of silken luxury.
Power plays: Tatler crowns the most iconic on-screen Tudor performances, from Wolf Hall to Shakespeare in Love
As Tatler goes full Tudor with its cover stars, which talented thespians have been crowned as the kings and queens of the silver screen when it comes to England’s most dramatic historical era?
It’s easy to lose your head when you’re playing the Tudors. Any actor looking to recreate this most iconic era of English history really has to run the gauntlet. Keeping track of political power games, mastering the cant of Henry’s court, and keeping an eye out for the execution’s axe – all while wrapped up in a tsunami of corsets, doubles, and petticoats. For the most masterful of thespians, however, a turn in a Tudor drama can be a truly rewarding role. Whether Judi Dench’s Oscar-winning five-minute run as Elizabeth I in Shakespeare in Love, or Paul Scofield’s masterful take on Sir Thomas More, any actor brave enough to take a trip to the 1500s might find themselves returning with an Academy Award.
As Tatler draws back the velvet brocade on the irresistible world of Wolf Hall – itself a tapestry of powerhouse performances – here are some of the most iconic Tudor roles this side of the Reformation.
These Aren’t Regular Mashed Potatoes. They’re Martha Stewart’s Mashed Potatoes.
To serve alongside Dolly Parton’s cranberry jelly tower and Christina Tosi’s one-pot corn bake.
Stars: They’re just like us. They love a club sandwich. They have strong opinions on pumpkin pie. And they get their mom’s mashed potatoes recipe and play with it a bit to make it better suit their tastes.
That’s what Martha Stewart did for her mashed potatoes recipe — her mom used boiled Idaho potatoes, but Martha swaps them for steamed Yukon Golds. (She keeps the cream cheese, however.) “It was not possible to find Yukon Golds in the Nutley Co-Op, where we shopped for all our groceries in the ’40s, or in the ShopRite, which came to Nutley, N.J., in the early ’50s,” Martha writes. “But these days, I love the tenderness of Yukon Golds, and I grow a hardy crop of them in my Bedford garden in New York. I also use both heavy cream and milk, and I use a food mill with the finest sieve to ensure the creamiest, smoothest and silkiest mashed potatoes ever.” These mashed potatoes are, very much, a good thing.
With ‘The Piano Lesson,’ Danielle Deadwyler Goes Even Deeper
After breaking through with “Till,” the actress delivers another formidable performance. Still, when it comes to Hollywood, she’d rather keep some distance.
After supporting roles in “The Harder They Fall” and “Station Eleven” established her as an actress to watch, Deadwyler’s career breakthrough came two years ago with the film “Till,” about the 1955 Mississippi murder that helped catalyze the civil-rights movement. For her deeply felt performance as Mamie Till, whose 14-year-old son Emmett was slain by white supremacists, Deadwyler won leading honors from the NAACP Awards, Gotham Awards and National Board of Review.
She’s every bit as powerful in Netflix’s “The Piano Lesson,” which premiered on the streamer last week and is once again earning the 42-year-old actress awards buzz. Based on the play by August Wilson, “The Piano Lesson” casts Deadwyler as Berniece, a widowed mother at odds with her brother, Boy Willie (John David Washington), in post-Depression-era Pittsburgh.
Do you need to be hot to make it as an artist now?
‘The cruel reality is that maybe improving my physical appearance is just as fundamental to my success as developing my art practice itself’
Where Romans may have first encountered a Michelangelo painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, today, you might discover a new artist on social media. Their work may not even be the first thing you see – the artist might be turning over the canvas to do a slow reveal or even walking towards their sculpture in sheer trousers. In the comment, people write, ‘the true work of art is you’, but, in many cases, the art may not even be the point. People are combining “art reveal” with thirst traps, and creators like Pottery Boy on TikTok have built a 1.6 million following through shirtless wheel-throwing videos. Horny ceramics aside, in an era of ‘personal branding’, does it pay off to be a conventionally attractive, front-facing artist?
‘Blitz’: Saoirse Ronan on Training to Sing Onscreen and Performing ‘Winter Coat’ in Front of 300 Extras
How the movie’s original song came together with Steve McQueen, Nicholas Britell and Taura Stinson
Yes, that is Saoirse Ronan singing in Steve McQueen’s “Blitz.”
In the World War II drama, now streaming on AppleTV+, Ronan plays a young mother, Rita, searching for her young son who has been sent away and gone missing.
In one scene, Rita who works at a bomb-making factory, gets up to sing a wartime tune “Winter Coat” in front of her co-workers. Ronan is tipped to be in the running for best supporting actress, but landing the role was not that simple. The song was always in the script. Ronan says, “There was never a question of not being able to sing if he gave me the role.”
Timothée Chalamet performs 40 Bob Dylan songs live in A Complete Unknown: ‘On guitar, on harmonica, and singing’
Check out an exclusive sneak peek at the musical numbers in the Dylan biopic
Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me…
Timothée Chalamet, who portrays Bob Dylan in the new biopic A Complete Unknown, took Dylan’s invocation quite literally. In an exclusive new featurette, producer Fred Berger reveals that Chalamet learned and performed live 40 of the folk hero turned rock star’s songs.
“There are 40 songs in the movie that he performs,” Berger notes. “On guitar, on harmonica, and singing live take after take after take.”
“It was important for me to sing and play live,” Chalamet adds. “Because if I can actually do it, why should there be an element of artifice here? And I’m proud that we took that leap.”

Bring something new to the Thanksgiving table by making one of these alternatives to cranberry sauce.

Consider a chutney with fresh and dried fruit, a tangy citrus marmalade, and even bacon onion “jam.” The recipes we’ve gathered are sweet and tart or savory and aromatic, they include the spices, nuts, and deep flavors we associate with autumn and winter, so you won’t miss the cranberries one bit.

The Right Temperature to Set Your Freezer to Ensure Your Food Stays Safe
Plus, how to make sure it stays at this optimal temp.
We rely on our freezers to store food and safely preserve it, but is your freezer actually cold enough to do the job? Your freezer keeps food cold, which prevents bacteria from growing. This is important because while not all bacteria are harmful, some can cause food to spoil or lead to foodborne illness. Freezers preserve food by halting bacterial activity altogether.
Knowing how cold your freezer should be is crucial to keeping your food safe and well-preserved. We spoke to a food safety expert to learn the correct freezer temperature and how to ensure your freezer stays there.
How to Store Coffee Beans So They Last for Months, According to Experts

Lisbon Was Just Named the Best Culinary City Destination in Europe — Here Are Must-eat Places, According to a Local
From coffee to breakfast, here’s where to eat and drink in Lisbon.
In October, Lisbon was named Europe’s best culinary city destination at the annual World Culinary Awards, an honor bestowed by the “culinary community, industry experts, and consumers.” As Carlos Moedas, the mayor of Lisbon, shared in a statement, “It’s [the award] a recognition of the quality of the gastronomy for which Lisbon is so well known and an award that encourages all the professionals who keep it alive. The local economy is increasingly a distinctive factor for the city of Lisbon, and gastronomy contributes greatly to the quality of Lisbon’s tourism.”
And as someone who lives here, I can confidently say we deserve it. Big time. But I’m not the only one singing its praises.
